How come he didn’t join “Sunday All Stars”? “Kasi may iba kong plans na gawin, like yung album ko. Also, I was told that halos one half of the week, you’ll devote in rehearsing your number with your group sa ‘Sunday All Stars’, so mahirap, lalo na’t marami ka pang gagawin iba. E, I enrolled pa sa St. Benilde taking up culinary arts.”
Just like Lauren Young, his rumored inamorata who’s also taking up culinary arts at St. Benilde. They both continue to deny their relationship but they were seen sweet together when they both went to Bali to support Lauren’s sister Megan at the Miss World pageant held in Indonesia.
Is he taking up culinary arts with the plan of putting up a restaurant? “May balak, in the future. Kasi ang food business, hindi mawawala yan, e.”
So he didn’t reject the offer to do “Dormitoryo” with Lauren and “Kahit Nasaan Ka Man” with Julie Anne San Jose? “Like I said, wala talaga akong nire-reject. Siguro, they’re just not meant for me. But I’m glad heto, nabigyan na ko finally ng soap, the remake of ‘Villa Quintana’ na very popular noong araw. I’m reprising the role of Isagani, originally played by Keempee de Leon, a tough act to follow kasi nanalo raw si Kuya Keempee as best actor para dito.”
Did he and partner Janine Gutierrez see the original show? “No, our director, Gina Alajar, said there’s no need. She also directed the remake of ‘Anna Karenina’ which was very successful. She also didn’t see the original of that but she just came up with her own interpretation na mas babagay for viewers in today’s generation.”
He’s not been visible on TV for five months now, so he’s glad that his comeback vehicle is a good drama like “Villa Quintana”. “Kasi nag-acting workshops ako. Siempre, gusto ko naman maipakitang I learned something from all those workshops I took, lalo na kay Direk Maryo de los Reyes na gusto kong pasalamatan as he’s the one daw who recommended me for the role. I’ll just make up for lost time. Big challenge for me to play Isagani so I’m really preparing for my role. Magpapaitim ako to be credible in the role of a farmer.”
