Nico Antonio Thankful That ABS-CBN Star Magic Allowed Him To Do 'Katipunan' For GMA News Channel

NICO ANTONIO is officially with ABS-CBN Star Magic but he’s now playing an important role in GMA News Channel’s sprawling historical epic, “Katipunan”, where he’ll play the writer Aurelio Tolentino who becomes a friend of Andres Bonifacio, to be played by Sid Lucero. Also in the cast are Paolo Contis and Benjamin Alves. “Nagpaalam ako sa Star Magic and I’m happy and thankful na pinayagan naman nila akong gawin ito sa GMA,” he says. “Excited ako to work with Kapuso actors this time. Pero kasali pa rin ako sa ‘Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin’ ng ABS-CBN. Magiging kasama ako ni Gerald Anderson sa bilangguan. Ginagawa ko rin sa Cinema One Originals ang movie na ‘Bendor’ with Vivian Velez.”

Nico has the most number of entries in the recent Cinemalaya. He was the ill-fated cameraman in “Diplomat Hotel”, the gym buff who replaces Alex Medina as an internet scammer in “Babagwa” that will be shown in several theatres starting today, and the gay wedding coordinator in “Sana Dati” that will have its wide release on September 25.

He was offered to do the lead role in “Babagwa” but it calls for nudity in the bed scene with Chanel Latorre and his wife, Angela, didn’t agree. He was also in “Instant Mommy” and “Ekstra”. Off camera, Nico is about to finish his law course at the San Sebastian College to follow in the footsteps of his famous mom, Atty. Josabeth Alonso.
