Rita De Guzman Is The Ultimate Super-Balimbing

SHE USED to be known as Rita Iringan as a member of the teen singing group Sugar Pop. But Iringan means something negative in Tagalog: conflict. She then decided to replace it with the family name of her late comedian grandpa, Teroy de Guzman, and now, her career is on the upswing.

“Nakatulong talaga ang pagpapalit ko ng apelyido kasi mas madali ang recall sa tao ng de Guzman kaya mas dumami ang projects ko,” she says.

She’s now a regular in “Mundo Mo’y Akin” as Allison, the mutual friend of Louise de los Reyes and Lauren Young. “Super-balimbing ako rito. When I’m with Louise, I’m for her. But when I’m with Lauren, sa kanya naman ako kampi. Pero ngayong nabunyag na ang katotohanang si Louise as Marilyn ang siyang tunay na rich girl and not Lauren, I did something mischievous sa isang episode. Nakita ko si Lauren seducing Alden Richards in a motel and I took pictures tapos I uploaded sa internet para maging sex scandal.”

We saw her with former Sugar Pop colleagues having a reunion in ‘Mars’. “Nakakatuwa nga ngayon lang kami uli nagkasama. Kami ni Julie Ann San Jose, active pa rin. But Renz and Pocholo are now in college. Nasa Letran si Renz at si Poch, in St. Benilde.”
