Piolo Pascual Not Sore That It's Joel Torre Who Won Best Actor For 'On The Job' And Not Him

AT THE ‘ON the Job” presscon, we asked Piolo Pascual how he feels that he and Gerald Anderson are billed ahead in the movie but it was Joel Torre who won best actor in the Puchon International Filmfest in Korea where they participated recently.

“Mas malawak naman ang years of experience niya in acting kaysa sa amin and he deserves it,” he says. “We’re so happy for him. Yung tagumpay niya, tagumpay na rin naming lahat. Sana, hindi lang siya sa abroad manalo kundi pati sa local award giving bodies din natin dito.”

He plays an NBI agent who’s assigned to work with a top cough, played by Joey Marquez, in solving murder cases perpetrated by hired assassins who are secretly spirited away from prison. He’s married to Shaina Magdayao and they have a hot love scene in the movie.

“Madugo ang shoot ng love scene namin. Inabot ng two days kasi maraming shots and angles ang kinuha ni Direk Erik Matti. Importante kasing ipakita ang closeness namin as husband and wife as, later on, Shaina’s dad, played by Michael de Mesa, will also be involved in a crime involving some crooked politicians and that will test our relationship. It’s the first time for Shaina to do a love scene so kinakabahan siya. Iningatan naman namin ang eksena to make sure everything will come out tastefully on screen.”

He’s hoping that “On the Job”, an action-thriller widely praised abroad when shown at the Cannes International Filmfest and will be shown formally in U.S. theatres come September, will open more doors for the production of similar hard-hitting films that will also be sold abroad. He’s supposed to be Eugene Domingo’s leading man in “Kimmy Dora, the Prequel”, but he backed out and is now replaced by Sam Milby?

“Gusto ko talagang gawin yun, lalo na nga’t Metro Filmfest entry pa siya. Kaso hindi ko na talaga kaya, kasi I’m also doing a movie with Toni Gonzaga and I will start a new soap soon. Nag-sorry nga ako kay Uge kasi she really requested na ako ang makasama niya, pero baka mag-suffer naman ang shooting ng movie dahil magiging sobrang busy na nga ako, so I begged off na lang.”
