Nicco Manalo, Son Of Jose Manalo, Ventures Into Acting And Talks About Estranged Parents

NICCO MANALO is being introduced in “Instant Mommy” that opens in theatres today. He plays the younger brother of Eugene Domingo, with Rico Puno as their dad. Who’s Nicco? At 27 years old, he’s the eldest son of “Eat Bulaga” host and comedian Jose Manalo and his estranged wife Annalyn whose marriage ended in court.

Nicco attended the presscon of “Instant Mommy” so it’s inevitably that he’d be asked about the current state of relationship of his warring parents. “I made it my decision not to side with any of them,” he says. “Talagang pinanindigan kong wala akong kinampihan sa kanila. I’m trying to understand their situation up to now. Siguro, lahat naman ng anak, gusto, mabuo ang pamilya nila, di ba? Pinagdarasal ko nga na sana, tumahimik na ang mga bagay-bagay. Medyo may struggle sa relationship namin ng father ko, but we’re trying na ayusin ang anumang dapat ayusin.”

Would he like to work his dad someday? “Given the chance, why not? I want him to be proud of me, lalo na I’m trying to make it on my own.”

He feels lucky to be working with Uge not only in “Instant Mommy”. “Nakasama ko rin siya in ‘Tuhog’ and sa katatapos naming movie, ‘Mga Kuwentong Barbero’. Napakahusay niyang artista kaya masarap katrabaho.”
