Jennylyn Mercado's 'Anak Ko 'Yan' Directly Up Against BF Luis Manzano's Own Show On ABS-CBN

JENNYLYN MERCADO is glad that after losing “Hot TV”, she now has a new show to host solo, “Anak Ko Yan”, an original concept talent search reality show where contestant kids are paired with their doting parents. One of the girl contestants is an “ampon” of her American foster dad, Jenjen of Dumaguete. Jennylyn herself was an “ampon” of her Mommy Lydia when she joined Starstruck 1 as her real mom was in Japan. Can she somehow relate with Jenjen?

“Naku, let’s not talk about my past,” she says. “Basta haping-happy ako kay Mommy Lydia ko who’s always loving and supportive and I’m wishing all the contestants all the best.”

We’re sure the parents involved in the program will somehow get on each other’s nerves as they show their supportive for their respective children. Is she ready to act as a referee supposing some moms get into a heated conflict?

“That will be part of my job, to mediate between them. Basta daraanin namin sa mabuting usapan at hindi sa init ng ulo. Talented naman lahat ng mga anak nila. Nasa kamay na ng mapipiling judges kung sino sa kanila ang mare-retain hanggang katapusan to be the winner.”

How’s her own son, Alex Jazz, doing? “He’s going to school now at nakakatuwa kasi mahilig siyang kumanta. May talent pala for singing ang anak ko kaya ipinasok ko na siya sa isang music school and he’s really enjoying it.”

How is her relationship now with her son’s dad, Patrick Garcia, who she accused of not supporting the boy before? “Okay na kami. Basta okay na kami."

Her new show, “Anak Ko Yan”, will be shown at 10:45 AM and it will be directly up against her current boyfriend Luis Manzano’s own game show on ABS-CBN. How do they feel about this?

“I told him about it kasi ayoko namang magkagulatan na lang kami na magkalaban pala ang aming shows. Okay naman sa kanya. Healthy competition naman, e. Sabi niya, go. Supportive naman siya. But we don’t follow each other anymore sa Twitter at Instagram kasi magkalaban na nga ang shows namin,” she jokes. “Ganun naman talaga sa competition, may mananalo, may matatalo.”

But when it comes to love and Luis, she’s definitely the winner. “Ay, oo. Panalong-panalo ang puso ko.”
