“Actually, I’ve done a gay film before, ‘Happy Hearts’ sa Regal in 2007. I was with Rustom Padilla, hindi pa siya BB Gandanghari noon, but it’s a comedy. Wala pa kong nagawang serious gay film na parang ‘Brokeback Mountain’ o kaya gaya ng ‘My Husband’s Lover’. But as an actor, I’m willing to try, lalo na kung si Derek Ramsay ang kasama ko kasi naging close kami sa ‘Kidlat’ and now, in ‘Undercover’, kaya love team na kami,” he laughs.
Will he be willing to do gay love scenes? “Napag-uusapan yan. Kung sina Heath Ledger nga at Jake Gyllenhaal sa ‘Brokeback’ at sina Michael Douglas at Matt Damon sa movie ni Liberace, nakaya nila, why not? Basta maayos ang treatment.”
Is he quite content playing villain to Derek in “Kidlat” and “Undercover”? “Walang problema sa’kin. Trabaho ito. In ‘Undercover’, maganda ang role ko as stepbrother niyang pinakasalan ang fiancée niya, si Arci Munoz. May intriguing twist sa story. Enjoy kami doing ‘Undercover’ kasi kasama namin dito si Kuya Phillip Salvador. Para kang nag-acting workshop sa kanya. I remember when I did the TV remake of ‘Sinasamba Kita’ sa GMA-7, I played the role he did sa big screen at kinonsulta ko siya tungkol dito. He said, stick with the script and do it your own way. And now na magkasama kami rito sa ‘Undercover’, I feel so excited to work with someone who’s so devoted to his craft. Mas mai-inspire kang gawin nang tama ang trabaho mo.”
