Alden Richards Had A Successful Launch Of His Debut Album At Trinoma

ALDEN RICHARDS launched his debut album at the Trinoma activity center recently. Universal Records was surprised as he was able to fill up the venue with thousands of his screaming fans. “Noong una, I was worried baka walang dumating kasi hindi naman talaga ako singer,” he says. “Pero nang nagsisigawan na sila as I performed, pati ako, nagulat.”

“The response was really overwhelming,” says Gian Carlos, Universal’s PR. “We were able to sell hundreds of copies of the album. It zoomed to the top of the Astrovision/Astroplus music charts after only a week from its release. Mukhang masusundan itong album niya.”

“When they told me they want me to record an album for them, hindi agad ako naniwala,” says Alden. “I know I’m not a singer but they said okay naman ang boses ko, so let’s claim it na lang. I realized I can be a crooner, doing ballads, walang biritan. As expected, may mga nagsabing bakit may album yan, hindi naman singer. I respect their opinion but I don’t want to waste naman the chances na binibigay sa’kin. I took vocal workshops with Ms. Kitchie Molina to prepare for my recording at heto, I did seven songs in the album. ‘Haplos’, the carrier single, has a music video I did with Louise de los Reyes na parang ’50 First Dates’ kasi naaksidente siya and I remind her about our past. The other songs are ‘Naaalala Ka’, ‘Can Find No Reason’, ‘Di Na Mababawi’, ‘Akin Ka Na Lang’ and ‘Everytime I See You’, all revivals, plus one original, ‘Sa Aking Tabi’ by Vince Katindoy, composer of the hit ‘Ngiti’. Even the album jacket, nakakatuwa, as it’s designed like a magazine with so many things in it you can read about me.”

Alden will be part of the new GMA-7 Sunday show, “Sunday All Stars”, and he’ll get to sing live in it. So which does he prefer now: acting or singing? “Actually, naging madali yung transition for me from singing to acting. Singing is just like acting. You have to feel the right emotions when you deliver a song. I’m very thankful to Universal for giving me this break and to Mr. Ito Rapadas who produced the album and chose the right songs for me. I’m very proud to be part of Universal.”

Alden’s career is really coming up roses. He has a new movie, “10,000 Hours”, with Robin Padilla, an entry in the December Metro Filmfest to be directed by Joyce Bernal. His hit primetime soap, “Mundo Mo’y Akin”, has just been extended for two more weeks. “Dahil sa extension, may chance nang pagandahin si Louise as Marilyn,” he says. “She finally learns from Jolina Magdangal as Aida na siya ang tunay na anak nina Angelika de la Cruz and Gabby Eigenmann at pinagpalit lang sila ni Lauren Young as Darlene when they were babies. Gabby and his mom, Jaclyn Jose, will be able to accept Louise and advice that she undergo cosmetic surgery para gumanda ang mukha niya.”
