Yasmien Kurdi Back To Acting After Giving Birth To A Baby Girl

YASMIEN KURDI is back before the camera after giving birth to a baby girl, Ayesha. Her husband, flight steward Roy Soldevilla, has given his blessings for her to resume her acting career. She plays the mother of the missing heir in GMA-7’s “Anna Karenina” that will replace “Indio” starting Monday night.

“Anak ako nina Sandy Andolong and Juan Rodrigo,” she says. “My dad has high hopes for me na akong magmamana in running our businesses. But when I got pregnant out of wedlock, pinalayas niya ako sa bahay namin. I stay in a house for unwed moms at dun ko isinilang si Anna Karenina. Tapos, bigla akong mawawala at hindi na alam kunsaan napunta ang bata. Years later, ipapahanap siya ng parents ko and three girls will present themselves as Anna Karenina, sina Barbie Forteza, Krystal Reyes and Joyce Ching. Ako naman, nawawala pa rin.”

In real life, she really went missing for a while. GMA-7 successfully launched her in soaps like “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita”, “Pasan Ko ang Daigdig” and “Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso”, opposite JC De Vera. Then, all of a sudden, she left the scene. Is it because she got broken hearted when JC moved to TV5? “No, never naging kami ni JC. Ni hindi siya nanligaw sa’kin. That time, on na kami ng naging husband ko. Let’s just say napagod ako’t nag-hibernate. I devoted my time sa nursing studies ko, na natapos ko naman, kulang lang ako sa thesis. When I came back, kontrabida na ko sa ‘Grazilda’ and I played a guest role in ‘Amaya’. Then I got married and got pregnant.”

Some folks say she was left behind by Jennylyn Mercado, her batchmate in Starstruck 1. “Okay lang. Hindi naman lahat, para sa iyo. There’s a reason for everything and I know God has other plans for me. Happy naman ako sa husband ko’t sa daughter ko who I’m breastfeeding. And I’m glad nakaarte uli ako rito sa ‘Anna Karenina’.”

Will she be willing to post for FHM like Jen who’s now considered a hot mama? “Ay, hindi siguro. Gusto ko sa Rogue na lang,” she laughs.

It’s common knowledge her mom is against her husband and didn’t speak to her for sometime because her husband is Catholic and they’re Iglesia ni Cristo. “Ay, okay na kami. Tanggap na ni Mommy ang family ko. Gustong-gusto nga niyang kinakarga ang anak ko. Tuwang-tuwa siya sa apo niya.”
