Willie Revillame: Did He Really Resign Or Is It Because TV5 Just Won't Renew His Contract Anymore?

WE ASKED Peachy Guioguio what is TV5’s stand on the announcement of Willie Revillame in his show “Wowowillie” last Tuesday that he’ll retire come October after his contract with TV5 expires on October 15. Willie said on air: “May personal reasons na hindi ko na sasabihin sa inyo. Basta magpapahinga muna ako ng ilang buwan o isang taon. Anyway, tingnan po natin, baka may pagkakataong magkita-kita pa rin tayo. Pag may nagsarang bintana, may magbubukas na pintuan. Basta mage-enjoy pa rin tayo.”

“The TV5 management respects his decision and wish him well,” says Peachy.

Despite this, stories that it’s really TV5 that chose not to renew his contract with them persist. It’s because the show is expensive to produce but they’re not really earning from it. Willie’s announcement that he decided to retire is reportedly just his way of saving face so it won’t appear that he’s the one who was rejected.
