Susan Roces-Amalia Fuentes Reunion Project Aborted

FANS OF 60s movie queens Susan Roces and Amalia Fuentes hoping to see them together again in ABS-CBN’s new soap for them, “Muling Buksan ang Puso”, will surely be disappointed to know that it will no longer push through as Nena (Amalia’s nickname) has resigned due to creative differences with the production staff. Someone told us that Amalia has been making so many demands, right from the pictorial session with the rest of the cast.

“Malayong-malayo siya sa ibang senior stars na sikat din noong araw like Gloria Romero, Helen Gamboa, Divina Valencia and of course, si Susan Roces, na puro napakadaling katrabaho and have no airs whatsoever,” says someone who’ve worked with all of them. “Si Ms. Fuentes, umpisa pa lang, marami ng complaints kaya para na ring nabunutan ng tinik ang staff nang mag-resign siya.”

As for Amalia, she said she just realized that the role assigned to her is not suited to her: that of a woman living in poverty. “Sa katawan kong ito, hindi ako babagay sa role,” she said.

Too bad. We were really excited with anticipation of the two movie queens working together again. The problem now is: Who will take her place in the soap topbilled by Julia Montes and Enrique Gil? We can’t think of anyone else who belongs to the same level and has the same stature. Can you?
