REPLACING ‘INDIO’ is “Mga Basang Sisiw”, a soap based on the hit tearjerker about neglected orphans produced by the company of the late Helen Vela in the 80s. It starred then top child stars Janice de Belen, Sheryl Cruz, Nino Muhlach and the late Julie Vega. It was a big hit because it’s the first time Janice as Flor de Luna and Julie as Anna Liza co-starred in a movie. The GMA-7 version will be topbilled by the beautiful Bianca Umali of “Tropang Potchi” who, at 12, is on the verge of adolescence. In a soap, she was last seen with Barbie Forteza in “Paroa”.
After “Basang Sisiw”, another old Julie Vega show will be revived, but this time by ABS-CBN. This is “Anna Liza” starring new child star Andrea Brilliantes. Wonder which will rate if “Mga Basang Sisiw” and “Anna Liza” were pitted against each other on primetime.
