Award-Winning Film On Flamenco, 'In Nomine Matris', To Be Shown In Sm Cinemas

FORMER BEAUTY QUEEN LIZA DINO is so happy that she’s nominated as best actress in the coming Urian Awards for her performance as an aspiring flamenco dancer in Will Fredo’s “In Nomine Matris”, for which she already won the best actress award in the last Metro Manila Filmfest New Wave category. She’s up against veteran actresses like Nora Aunor in “Thy Womb” and Gina Alajar in “Mater Dolorosa”, along with sisters Alex and Assunta de Rossi in “Baybayin”, Sharmaine Centenera in “Requieme”. Ama Quiambao in “Diablo” and Jodi Sta. Maria in “Aparisyon”.

“Hindi ako agad makapaniwala na nominated ako. It’s really an honor to be nominated alongside these very talented actresses,” she says at the presscon of “In Nomine Matris” that will be shown in SM Cinemas as a special Mother’s Day celebration.

Liza plays Mara in the story, the daughter of Tami Monsod, a frustrated flamenco dancer who pushes her daughter to excel in this classical Spanish dance. Liza’s teacher is Clara Ramona (a real life flamenco teacher-dancer who’s nominated as Urian best supporting actress), who has two sons: Biboy Ramirez and opera singer Ed Gatmaitan. She figures in a love triangle with the two guys. Liza is based in Los Angeles where she works as chef at the famous Wolfgang Puck resto. She’s currently in town to help promote the showing of her movie. She dreams of doing a teleserye in any of our top networks someday.
