Let'S Say A Prayer For The Repose Of The Soul Of Director Danny Zialcita

OUR CONDOLENCES to former actress Leonor Vergara for the passing of her husband, Director Danny Zialcita, last Monday at 73. Danny started directing films in the mid-60s with action-thrillers like “Lady Killer”, “Masquerade”, “Palos Strikes Again”, “Bart Salamanca”. He also did sexy films in the 70s like “Gutom” (in answer to “Uhaw”, a big hit then), “Hidhid”, “Ang Biyuda ay Misteryosa”, “Mga Basag na Kristal”, “Kapag Tumabang ang Asin”.

He hit it big in 1978 when he did “Hindi sa Iyo ang Mundo, Baby Porcuna”, based on the life of the sister of Boy Golden. It was widely praised by critics, got several Urian nominations and won the best actress award for title-roler Beth Bautista. Other works from him are “Anak sa Una, Kasal sa Ina”, “Tatlong Bulaklak”, “Parolado”, “Ikaw at ang Gabi”, “Kaladkarin”, “Mahinhin vs. Mahinhin” (a blockbuster). He also directed the very first Sharon-Gabby movie, “Dear Heart”.

Other important films he did are “T-Bird at Ako”, “Nagalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi” (which is now being remade by Viva), “Langis at Tubig”, “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan”, “Palabra de Honor”, “May Lamok sa Loob ng Kulambo”, “May Daga sa Labas ng Lungga”. His last film was “Bakit Iisa ang Pag-ibig” in 1987.
