“Noong una, medyo kabado ako kasi I know his stature as one of our country’s best actors,” says Gina. “But it turned out I have nothing to worry about kasi he’s very cooperative. Hindi siya nakikialam sa pagdidirek ko to show na marami siyang awards. And it helps to have someone like him na magaling sa acting dahil natutulungan din niya ang mga baguhang kasama niya sa cast. As a whole, I’m very pleased with the cast kasi mahuhusay silang lahat.”
And how’s it being directed by her former leading lady? “Magkasama kami ni Gina recently as mentors sa ‘Protege’ dito rin sa GMA kaya I know how she coaches yung protégés niya,” says Phillip. “She’s really good and I respect her so much as a director. Ganun din naman ako sa iba pang dating co-actors ko who later directed me, like Ricky Davao. I’m so happy to be directed by former colleagues who are now making a name for themselves as directors. I love my role here in ‘Unforgettable’ as a lawyer. It’s a new challenge for me. I really have to act and move as a lawyer at malaking tulong si Gina in helping me interpret my role credibly.”
