SEN. BONG REVILLA has done mostly sitcoms like “Idol Ko si Kap” and “Hokus Pokus” for GMA, also hosting “Kap’s Amazing Stories”. He now tries doing action-drama with a touch of fantasy in the big budgeted epic, “Indio”.
“Daig pa nito ang pelikula sa laki,” he says. “I got so excited when it was offered to me as nothing like this has been done on local TV before. It’s very challenging for me to do a daily drama like this, set in the 1600s pa so I have to psych myself up to talk like people of that time. Nag-acting workshop and also prepared myself physically. I went on diet and do rigorous physical workouts na isinisingit ko sa aking very tight sked as a senator and also with my duties as a family man.”
The huge cast of “Indio” includes Phillip Salvador, Michael de Mesa, Jennylyn Mercado, Rhian Ramos, Michael de Mesa, Jackielou Blanco, Sarah Lahbati, Rachelle Ann Go, Jomari Yllana, Agot Isidro, Solenn Heussaff, Sam Pinto, Dominic Roco, Robert Arevalo, Melissa Mendez, Bobby Andrews, Benjie Paras, Luis Alandy, Ramon Christopher, Jillian Ward and Alden Richards as the younger Bong. The concept came from Suzette Doctolero who also wrote the toprating “Amaya” and “Encantadia”, directed by Dondon Santos who’s from ABS-CBN, with the supervision of historian-consultants Dr. Vic Villan and Dr. Rolando Borrinaga. “Indio” starts airing on Monday replacing “Aso ni San Roque” that ends on Friday.
