Now that she’s back, she’s busy promoting Quantum Films’ Metro Filmfest horror entry, “The Strangers”, and with Cong. Edgardo “Sonny” Angara’s advocacy to help senior citizens. In “The Strangers”, she plays Pat, the twin sister of Enrique Gil who encounters some terrifying experiences with their family when they go to a town called Murcia where their relatives go missing one by one. “It’s my first time to have a movie sa festival kaya excited ako,” she says.
As for Cong. Angara’s expanded senior citizens act, Julia is very open in saying she admires the Aurora representative’s care and concern for the elderly. “I was raised by my Lola Flor kaya nagpapasalamat ako kay Cong. Angara for the benefits given to oldies like getting 20% discount and exemption from VAT, free medical and dental service, diagnostic and lab fees in all government facilities, a monthly stipend of P500 for indigents, 5% discount on water and electric bills and educational assistance.”
Julia and her Lola Flor’s TV ad with Cong. Angara is now being shown. Why did they choose Julia to appear with him? “Sa bahay namin, everyone watched ‘Walang Hanggan’, pati mga anak ko,” says Cong. Angara. “We’re looking for the right spokesperson and Julia is just perfect as she’s so close to her Lola Flor at idol siya ng mga kabataan. My dad and I pushed for the senior citizens act as our way of giving back to the Filipino elderly who’ve contributed significantly to our society.”
Julia’s Lola Flor was with her when she was presented to the press. She says since her TV ad with Cong. Angara was aired, people now recognize her in public. Would she like to be an actress herself? “Puede rin, okay lang. Puede kong lola kahit ng ibang artista.” Who would she like to manage her? “Siempre Star Magic dahil dun kami pinalad at nabigyan ng magandang kapalaran. Dahil sa trabahong bigay nila kay Julia, nagkaroon kami ng sariling bahay at lupa at ng sariling business na beauty parlor.”
