How did Rida meet Rep. Arthur? “I was then working as marketing manager for Kawil Restaurant on Morato Ave. and he’s a councilor then,” she says. “Nag-miting sila doon and we were introduced to each other.”
“Hindi na niya ako pinakawalan,” Rep. Arthur jokes, prompting Rida to playfully hit his arm.
They now form a good term. Rep. Arthur will run for re-election in 2013 (his 3rd term as congressman) while Rida will run as mayor. Arthur will be up against Imelda Papin while Rida will face off with the incumbent mayor.
“Nagtataka kami kay Ms. Papin kasi hindi naman siya nakatira at all sa San Jose del Monte,” says Arthur. “As for the current mayor, he allowed na gawing tapunan ng basura ang city namin, endangering the life of our citizens. As a team, Rida and I have great plans for our city’s improvement and development.”
We tell them they’re like Lucy Torres and Richard Gomez. Lucy is the current representative of Ormoc and Richard is now also running for mayor. “Kaibigan namin sila,” says Rida. “Basta maganda ang layunin para sa tao, dapat bigyan ng chance.”
