Mother Lily Presents To The Press Sen. Dick Gordon As The First Senatorial Bet She's Supporting

PHILIPPINE RED CROSS Chairman Dick Gordon is a Kapatid talent. His “Aksyon Solusyon” show on TV5 and radio show on 92.3 FM are both topraters. “I was really amazed sa response ng audience,” he says. “We have lots of regular followers.” What would he do when he starts campaigning for the senate? “Well, I have to say goodbye to them muna. I’ll go on leave in February.”

He’s the first candidate to be presented by Mother Lily to the press. “Magkasama kami sa Red Cross,” says Mother Lily who’s a director of the Quezon City chapter. “So I know he’s a good man. He has good intentions for the country. Dapat nga sa kanya, naging president.”

It’s Mother Lily who made Marian Rivera a Red Cross volunteer. “Marian joined us sa fund-raising run namin that attracted 400,000 runners and also sa blood-letting event namin,” says Sen. Gordon. “May puso talaga siya sa kawanggawa. Celebrities like her should really have humanitarian advocacies kasi idols sila ng masa.”

Sen. Gordon has helped a lot of needy people with the Red Cross and has attracted many tourists as Tourism Secretary from 2001 to 2004 with his Wow Philippines campaign. He’s also a successful family man. He and his wife Kate have four children with successful careers and families of their own. “Our eldest, Marnie, is an international lawyer in New York and with three kids. Next is Amanda Olivia, a businesswoman with three sons. Leonard James or LJ is into trading and also has three sons. The youngest, Brian, is based in Olongapo with two sons and two daughters. We have a total of 10 grandchildren.”

Is anyone following his footsteps in politics? “I never encouraged any of them but Brian, who’s 36, is consumed by public service so he’s running for vice mayor. Gusto niya talaga makatulong in uplifting the life of our people.”
