Lovi Poe Plays A Mom Who Give Birth To A Love Child While In Coma In 'Yesterday'S Bride'

LOVI POE’s career is going great guns. She’s in the hit movie, “Tiktik: Aswang Chronicles”, in the filmfest entry “Thy Womb” (replacing “Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang” that backed out), has just finished the “Unwanted” episode with Vhong Navarro in “Shake, Ratlle & Roll 14” (also a filmfest entry), is now shooting “The Bride and the Lover” with Jennylyn Mercado, and is in a new soap, “Yesterday’s Bride” where she’s paired with Rocco Nacino. Does she still have time to sleep? “Usually, sa car, from one set to another, o kaya in between takes,” she says. “But I’m not complaining. When you love what you’re doing, you enjoy it. Di pa tapos yung bachelorette pad ko in Taguig so I need to work some more.”

She swears she has no more time for love. “Kaya yung pagli-link sa’kin kina Jake (Cuenca) and Ronald (Singson), they’re not true. They’re just good friends.”

“Yesterday’s Bride” is her first solo lead role on GMA-7. “Yung iba kasi, marami kami, like ‘Legacy’. Dito, I play the title role. I’m Andrea, bride of Rocco Nacino who’s Justin. Ayaw sa’kin ng parents niya, Ara Mina and Emilio Garcia, but he fought for me. On our wedding day, on the way to the church, naaksidente ko sa car. I become comatose. Hindi alam kung babalik pa malay ko, but I get pregnant and deliver a baby while still in coma. Ara told Rocco to remove all my life support system and just let me die. But that night, lightning strikes the hospital and there’s a fire. I regain consciousness and manage to escape. Akala ni Rocco, I died in the fire. But I wandered around and was found by Luis Alandy, a doctor who takes care of me even if I have lost my memory. Yun ang gist ng story.”

Also in the show are Karel Marquez as the doctor who delivers Lovi’s baby then falls in love with Rocco, Nina Ricci Alagao as Karel’s mom, Lou Sison as the nurse who takes care of Lovi, Mark Bautista as Luis’ best friend and Ken Chan as Rocco’s brother. Directed by Gil Tejada, this will replace “Hindi Ka Na Mag-iisa” that’s on its last week.
