Direk Nuel Naval Knows His Directorial Debut, 'A Secret Affair', Will Be Compared To 'No Other Woman'

DIRECTOR NUEL NAVAL is thankful to Viva Films for giving him his directorial break in a full length film with “A Secret Affair” that opens nationwide today. He’s under contract with ABS-CBN but only for TV shows, so he’s perfectly free to do movies with other companies. “Pero nagpaalam pa rin ako ng maayos sa ABS at pinayagan naman nila ako,” he says. “For that, I’m really thankful.”

He’s thankful that he has a good main cast consisting of Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay and Andi Eigenmann, supported by such talented actresses as Jacklyn Jose and Jackielou Blanco. Writer Mel del Rosario has wrote many memorable lines for them in her screenplay and the trailer showing the characters deliver their witty lines is now a hit on the internet to millions of viewers. Is he aware that “A Secret Affair” is being compared to “No Other Woman” directed by Ruel Bayani who’s now directing “One More Try” for Star Cinema?

“I guess that can’t be helped kasi pareho silang love triangle movies. But magkaibang-magkaiba ang stories nila. Kasi sa ‘No Other’, there’s marriage involved. E, dito naman, hindi married sina Anne and Derek. They’re just boyfriend-girlfriend. It’s more a story of a betrayal of friendship kasi good friends sina Anne and Andi, but then, susulutin pa rin ni Andi si Derek from Anne, making this more a story of betrayal. We made sure iba rin ang atake nito and there are more surprising twists and turns in the plotting. Was Derek at fault in cheating or may kasalanan din ba si Anne sa nangyari why he went astray?
