Alex Gonzaga Happy That Her Very First Movie Is A Metro-Manila Filmfest Entry At That

ALEX GONZAGA feels so lucky to be finally doing her first movie and it’s a Metro-Manila filmfest entry at that, “Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang”, a co-production between Studio 5, the film arm of TV5, and Unitel. “Ang tagal ko ng pinangarap na magka-movie,” she says. “When they signed me up sa Viva, akala ko, doon ako unang magkakapelikula. Yun pala, TV5 rin ang magbibigay sa’kin ng debut movie ko.”

“Lola Basyang” is a twin bill and she stars in the “Maria Alimango” episode. The other episode is “Pedro Walang Takot” with Edgar Allan Guzman.

“Yung story ko, parang Cinderella,” she says. “Si Zsa Zsa Padilla ang evil stepmom at sina Nadine Samonte and Nina Jose ang evil stepsisters who’ll make my life miserable. Si Sam Concepcion ang Prince Charming.”

Shooting is now going on, directed by Chris Martinez who’s nominated in the Asia Pacific Awards in the best screenplay category for “Babae sa Septic Tank”. “Am really busy now shooting the movie and also taping for ‘Enchanted Garden’ where I play Aya, anak ni Alice Dixson,” adds Alex. “Nora Aunor joins us in the cast as the former queen of Eden who I convince to get her throne back from Ruffa Gutierrez. Kabado ko noong una working with her kasi first time ko. E, ang galing-galing niya, so worry ko, baka kainin niya ako ng buhay sa mga eksena namin. But she turned out be very nice. Anak ang tawag sa’kin.”

In the story, she also figures in a love triangle with Mart Escudero as the mortal Paco and Edgar Allan as the warrior Molave. “Lahat kami, mapapasok na from the mortal world to Eden at doon maglalabo-labo ang lahat.”
