Let's Pray For The Repose Of The Soul Of Editor-Director Ike Jarlego Jr.

OUR CONDOLENCES to the family of the late Ike Jarlego, Jr. who passed on August 23 at the age of 68. He started as a child actor at LVN Pictures in the early 50s, where his late dad, Enrique Jarlego, was a film editor. Some of the films he did as a child star are “Aklat ng Buhay” (with Nora Dy), “Pag-asa” (with Armando Goyena), “Sonny Boy” (with Rosa Rosal), “Waray-Waray” (with Nida Blanca), “Higit sa Lahat” (with Rogelio de la Rosa and Emma Alegre), and “Sebya, Mahal Kita” (with Nida Blanca.) Later on, he’d be a film editor himself, starting in “Mortal” and “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos” for the late director Mario O’Hara. He won best editing awards for films like “Himala”, “Kakabakaba Ka Ba?”, “Abakada Ina”, “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan” and “Rosenda”. It was Viva Films that gave him the break to direct movies in “Andres Manambit: Angkan ng Matatapang” in 1992. Other films he directed are “Do Re Mi”, “Nena”, “Bridesmaids”, “Mahal Kita, Final Answer” and “Jeannie, Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang?” May he rest in peace and let’s pray for the repose of his soul.
