"We know that Derrick’s character is definitely a good image of a typical Filipino youth,” says Saavedra. “He’s an example of somebody who shows to the young how they must conduct themselves. Magaling si Derrick in terms of talent, magaling siya makihalubilo sa kapwa. Yun ang gusto natin sa isang kabataang Filipino. May proper appreciation of values."
As youth advocate, Derrick will join young leaders in the country in tapping 27.8M youth to inspire them to avoid dangerous drugs. "It’s an honor and a big responsibility at syempre I will do my best to meet their expectations,” Derrick says, who’s also delighted that fans support his love team with Barbie Forteza in “Luna Blanca”. “About Barbie, magseselos ako this week kasi magiging very close siya with Kristofer Martin as Aki. Magiging love triangle kami, pero love triangle din sila with Bea Binene so magkakaroon ng conflict between Luna and Blanca.”
