Marvin Agustin Feels 16 Finalists Of 'Artista Academy' All Have Great Potential

MARVIN AGUSTIN is serious about hosting. He took hosting workshops with Boy Abunda and Direk Freddie Santos to prepare for his new calling. As the daily host of AA, “Artista Academy” and not Alcoholics Anonymous, he’ll be seen Monday to Friday at 9PM starting tomorrow, following the 16 finalists as they attend classes at Wilma Galvante’s academy. Wilma will be the principal, with Joel Lamangan, Louie Ocampo and Georcelle Dapat as the advisers for acting, music and dance.

“I’ve met the 16 finalist students and lahat sila, may great potential,” says Marvin. “The academy will give them formal training and help hone them para sila mas humusay bilang mga artista. I’m excited as a I’m a fan of reality shows that help people fulfill their dreams. Nakaka-inspire.”

Who does he think are the most promising? “I’m not supposed to be partial to anyone. I have to be very objective. Ang maganda, they have all this hunger, this passion to do well and make a name for themselves, so magiging very intense talaga ang laban.”

Doesn’t he miss acting? “I do. But TV5 boss Sir Perci Intalan said I’m going to do a soap next. We’re also preparing ‘Kanta Pilipinas’ after ‘Artista Academy’, with me as producer.”

Even if Marvin is so busy with showbiz work and managing his seven restos with branches in Manila and Cebu, he remains a good dad to his twin sons. He just took them to a vacation on a Disney Cruise. “Five days kami and we sailed in the Bahamas. Kasama namin ang mommy nila (Tetet Dy), so we’re one big happy family.”

Does this mean he and Tetet have reconciled? “No, but we remain the best of friends naman. We promise we won’t fight for the sake of our kids. We have a really good relationship.”
