Queen Elizabeth II Celebrates Her 60Th Year Of Reign In England

ACTRESS HELEN MIRREN won the Oscar for portraying her in "The Queen". She's certainly one of the longest reigning monarchs in the history of England.

Queen Elizabeth II was just 25 years old when she ascended to the British throne after the death of her father, George IV, in 1952. Her coronation a year after was the first to be televised.

Throughout her 60 year reign, one of the longest for a British monarch, the country has experienced profound social and economic change. In the midst of all this, Queen Elizabeth has sought to discharge her role with an enormous sense of duty.

On her 60th year, the Queen continues with a relentless round of official engagements despite her age. GMA News TV commemorates Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee with a special documentary on her life entitled "Reign Supreme."

Reign Supreme examines how the Queen was influenced by her father, her reported troubled relationships with her children, her marriage to Prince Philip, and how she copes with the pressures of being one of the most famous women in the world.
Reign Supreme airs on Saturday, June 2 at 9:55 pm only on GMA News TV Channel 11.
