Derek Ramsay Has A Younger Brother Also Named Derek Who Wants To Join Showbiz

WE GOT TO Derek Ramsay’s dad at the TV5 affair for Derek. Derek’s dad speaks with a very pronounced British accent and we told Derek he should speak like that. He uttered some statements with a British accent then said, “Hoy hindi, a. Pilipino ako.”

His dad’s name is also Derek and he has a younger brother, 18, who’s also named Derek. “He wants to join showbiz, too,” says Derek Sr. “But I told him he should try making it on his own and not just bank on his older brother’s popularity. Aside from my sons, I also have three daughters. Derek was born in England. He’s about a month old when my wife and I decided to move to the Philippines, where our kids grew up.”

Derek’s mom, Medy Ramsay, was the former president of the local John Robert Powers training school. Derek finished elementary and high school in I.S., the British School and Montessori Alabang, but he took up his college studies in the U.K. and the U.S. before being an MTV VJ and trying acting in “Super Inggo”, with “Ysabella” opposite Judy Ann Santos as his biggest break in teleseryes. Now that he’s with TV5, he’d most likely be the host of the coming Miss World Philippines pageant now that Cory Quirino moved it from GMA-7 to TV5.
