Mike Tan The Reason Why Director Jay Altarejos Left 'Legacy'

MIKE TAN was the winner in Starstruck 2 but his career had a slow boil and it was only in last year’s “Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit” that it really took off as he played leading man to Carla Abellana and Michelle Madrigal. Now, he’s cast opposite Lovi Poe in “Legacy” and when we visited the show’s taping, the writers who joined us said he now has a different aura. “Mukhang artistang pambida na talaga siya,” they say.

Maybe because he’s now more buff, got himself a stylist to groom him well and he even changed the timbre of his voice to lower it and make it more manly. For Mike, though, he says he’s just lucky that he’s very patient and perseverant. “I’ve always believed mapapansin din ako and my time will come,” he adds. “So siguro, ito na yun.”

He’s enjoying his role in “Legacy”. “Hindi kasi goody-goody role but more of an anti-hero. As Third, may pagka-scheming ako, oportunista, user. My target is yung kayamanan ng family nina Lovi. Nakaka-challenge ang show for me kasi ang mga ka-eksena ko rito, puro award winners na like Lovi, Eddie Garcia and Sid Lucero. Ginagalingan ko lagi para hindi nila ko mapag-iwanan at hindi ako mapahiya.”

When we visited the “Legacy” set, we saw Direk Andoy Ranay who we know is directing “Hiram na Puso”. “I was pulled out from there at nilagay ako rito,” he said.

We’re wondering what happened to the original director, Jay Altarejos, but no one can give a believable answer as to why he was yanked out of the show when it’s rating very well under his direction. A few days later, we’re told Jay had to leave due to personal differences with Mike Tan. Too bad we didn’t know about this then or we could have asked Mike directly if it’s true he’s the reason why Jay (also his director in “Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit”) is now out of the show.
