IT’S COMMON knowledge that KC Concepcion’s last film with her dad Gabby and Jericho Rosales bombed at the tills, “I’ll Be There”, so her new one, “Forever and a Day”, will be crucial for her. Star Cinema is obviously giving her all out support by having her directed by their numero uno box office director, Cathy Garcia Molina, and with Sam Milby as her leading man since all of Sam’s films with Cathy are hits. There’s some attempt to make it appear that her relationship with Piolo Pascual is on the rocks because of Sam, probably to help promote their movie, but KC says this is simply not true. She says there’s no chance that she and Sam will get together as she’s definitely in a relationship with Piolo right now. “But Sam and I have been close friends even before we did the movie,” she says. “Pareho kami ng culture na kinamulatan so we can relate. Sa set nga, lagi kaming nagkukuwentuhan so pinaglayo kami ni Direk Cathy dahil maingay raw kami. Nagkikita na lang kami kapag take na.”
She seems to have lost weight. “Yes, 16 lbs. so far.” What did she do? “I had the Cathy Molina diet. Fear na mapagalitan niya ko. So I eat only fish, no carbs.”
These days, female characters in the movies often have names meant for men like George, Alex, Charlie. Now KC plays Raffy, while Sam plays Eugene, a name that lately has been identified with comedienne Eugene Domingo. Raffy is a girl who thinks her life is peaceful, until she finds out her days are numbered. “Marami kong fears in the story and it’s Sam who teaches me to be strong so we try doing white water rafting and zipline in Bukidnon. Marami kaming ginawa rito na ngayon ko lang ginawa sa buhay ko. I want to thank Direk Cathy for guiding me all the way in exploring my character na minahal ko talaga.”
KC and Sam are supported by Vivian Velez, Rayver Cruz, Bembol Roco, Matet de Leon, Dante Rivero, Robin Da Roza, Luis Villaruz and Spanky Manikan. It’ll have its premiere night tomorrow at SM Megamall and opens nationwide on Wednesday.
