After being paired with Glaiza de Castro in “Grazilda”, he’s glad to be back with Carla in “Magic Palayok”. “Siempre, masarap katrabaho ang love mo. I look forward sa tapings kasi ang kasama ko is someone who makes me smile and brightens my day. I always look forward to working with her.”
What qualities of Carla does he like most? “Marami. Everything. The complete package. And I love the attention she gives me. Dun ko nakikita how much she loves me and how much I need her.”
Their “Magic Palayok” continues to rate high even if a new rival show was pitted against them. “Tuwang-tuwa nga kami. Kasi ang laki ng cast ng itinapat sa amin but we still rate higher. But I guess we’re blessed we have a fine story na pampamilya kaya sinusundan talaga ng tao. Also, modesty aside, may chemistry naman kami ni Carla. I wish we could also do a movie together someday.”
Does he feel jealous that Carla is paired with Jake Cuenca in Regal’s “My Neighbor’s Wife” and they have a love scene? “No, walang selos factor sa’min as far as work is concerned. We support each other’s career.”
How would he compare his career to that of parents Gina Alajar and Michael de Mesa? “Malayo. They’ve won various acting awards at an early age because of the movies they did. E, ako naman, I’ve never done any film for which I can be nominated.”
Unlike his cousin Sid Lucero who has won so many acting awards? “Yes, bilib nga ako roon. I don’t know why walang indie films na kumukuha sa’kin. Willing naman ako, as long as the role is good.”
Can he do gay films like “Muli” for which Sid won another best actor award? “Why not? As long as maganda yung material at hindi ako basta mababastos, I’m willing to do it.”
