Rocker Pepe Smith in reality TV Show The Smiths

CURRENTLY SEEN on GMA News TV Channel 11 is “The Smiths”, a funky reality show about Joey Pepe Smith and three of his five children: Queenie, 33; Sanya, 27; and Beebop, 21. Theirs is an unconventional family as the three kids have different moms: Elenita Sacdalan for Queenie, Rebecca Padilla (half sister of Robin) for Sanya, and Rosuela Acuna for Beebop, the only boy. Beebop has two younger sisters who are camera shy so they weren’t included in the show. Queenie just met Sanya in a bar and told her: “I’m your sister.” For the first time, they all get the chance to live together with their dad in a 3-bedroom condo unit in QC. They’ve been living together since Feb. 20 together with two roving cameras and one CCTV camera. So have they gotten on each other’s nerves so far? “No, we’re having a good time getting to know each other better,” says Sanya, the sosyal type who speaks in English and works as a VJ and model. She lives with her own fiance at a condo in Pasig with her mom and her own mom’s boyfriend.

Queenie is already a mom with a 6 month old son and they live in GenSan where her husband has a tuna business. Also a singer, she has travelled all over Asia and stayed in Bangkok for five years singing with Snapshot band. “She has the best voice among us,” says Beebop, who’s also a vocalist-guitarist for a reggae band. What’s the nicest thing they’ve discovered about their father who’s a pioneer in Pinoy Rock? “He’s very loving, but sensitive,” says Queenie. “He can be very sweet,” says Beebop. “He’s very malandi, very flirtatious,” says Sanya. “But sobrang tagal niya sa bathroom, inaabot ng isang oras.”

They got shocked when their dad came home with a new girlfriend, Jenny, said to be the younger sister of Yayo Aguila. And what can Pepe Smith say about his kids? “Si Queenie, parang nanay namin, siyang nagluluto. Si Sanya, maraming trabaho, laging wala sa bahay. Si Beebop, masipag sa tulog.”

Born Joseph William Smith to an American dad and a Pinay mom, Pepe is no doubt Pinoy rock royalty.
