LVN actor Armando Goyena bids goodbye at 88

CONDOLENCES to the family of LVN actor Armando Goyena who passed on March 9 at 88. Born on Dec. 7, 1922 as Jose Revilla, he joined LVN Pictures in 1948 in “Puting Bantayog”. He’s best known for “Tiya Loleng” (a 1952 adaptation of the British comedy “Charley’s Aunt” that’s the forerunner of “Mrs. Doubtfire”) and “Kapitan Kidlat” (1953), both big hits. The latter even had a sequel, “Kidlat Ngayon”. He was often paired with the late Tessie Quintana. He married Camay Girl Paquita Roces in 1951 and they had 8 children. Two of their daughters became popular movie stars in the 70s: Maritess and Tina Revilla. His only son, Johnny Revilla, now play character roles. Among his grandchildren who joined showbiz are Bernard and Mico Palanca, Bianca Araneta and Lexi Schulze. He stopped acting in 1957. In 1995, he played Don Eugenio Lopez in Chito Rono’s “Eskapo”. Chito got him again in 2001 to play the grandfather of Danilo Barrios in “Yamashita”. His last film was “Annie B.” with Jolina Magdangal for Viva in 2004. His remains will be cremated on Saturday.
