Mariel Rodriguez on Robin Padilla and his daughters

IT’S OBVIOUS that Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez have a positive influence on each other. They both look good and happy. Robin looks so much younger than his age, 40. Even Robin’s kids, Queenie and Kylie, praise Mariel for being so nice. “Ay, thank you,” says Mariel. “Ganun din naman ako sa kanila. Bilib ako sa way that their parents raised them, mababait sila, may manners and good breeding.”

Don’t they intend to have their own kid soon? “Usapan namin, in two years pa. Kasi 26 pa lang naman ako. Pag nagka-baby na, siempre, mag-iibang priorities ko. Robin and I are still enjoying each other’s company now. Lately nga, when I went back to hosting in ‘Happy Yippe’ and he’s taping naman with Bea Alonzo for ‘Guns and Roses’, nabawasan ang time namin for each other. Dati, we go out every night, watch a movie. We can’t do that anymore, but he still prepares oat meal and honey tea for me each morning. Sobrang maalaga talaga siya.”

They’re now also busy promoting their film shot in India during their honeymoon, “Tum: My Pledge of Love”. “Tum is a Hindi wordfor ikaw,” explains Mariel. “Sa story, I’m a Pinay teacher who volunteers in India and falls in love with Indian culture. He’s a half Filipino-half Indian guy naman I meet there. We fall in love but our different beliefs and culture, plus the people around us, prevent our relationship so we had to analyze if we’re really meant for each other. The film is distribute by Star Cinema and opens on March 16.”
