Raquel Villavicencio is a late bloomer

RAQUEL VILLAVICENCIO is an award winning screenwriter (“Teenage Marriage”) who’s a late bloomer as an actress. After doing several soaps, she’s now in the cast of several films. She plays one of the leads as Tirso Cruz III’s wife in the family drama, “Bisperas”, produced by Atty. Joji Alonso and directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, meant for international exhibition in film festivals abroad. Jennifer Sevilla and Jodi Sta. Maria play their daughters. In Joel Lamangan’s political thriller, “Deadline”, about summary killings of journalists by abusive warlords, she plays a broadcast editor in a cast headed by Lovi Poe, Tirso Cruz III, Allen Dizon, TJ Trinidad, Ina Feleo, and Bibeth Orteza. She is also in Loy Arcenas’ Cinemalaya entry, “Nino”, playing the balikbayan daughter of a dying senator. And in the new GMA musical comedy, “I Heart U Pare”, she plays the mom of Luanne Dy.

Incidentally, Dennis Evangelista, who line produces “Deadline” for Atty. Ariel Inton, corrects us in our recent review of “Rosario” where we wrote that “Sinner or Saint” was directed by Mario O’Hara. Dennis points out that the real director is Mel Chionglo. Our apologies to Mel. The O’Hara film we’re referring to is “Bed Sins” starring Sarsi Emmanuelle.
