Direck Chito Rono will scare and make viewers laugh in Bulong

DIRECTOR CHITO RONO made last year’s best film for us, “Emir”. Now, for Star Cinema’s first salvo in 2011, he’s back to scaring us in “Bulong”, his latest scary movie after “Feng Shui”, “Sukob” and “T2”. This opens on February 2 as a special pre-Valentine presentation, veering away from the romantic films usually shown at that time of year. “Just like ‘Sukob’ na based on an old pamahiin, ‘Bulong’ is about the folk belief that your wish could come true when you whisper it to a dead person,” explains Direk Chito. “In the movie, Vhong Navarro plays a hospital orderly who’s in love with a nurse, Bangs Garcia, na ayaw naman sa kanya. He whispers his wish to a dead woman na sana, magustuhan siya ni Bangs, but with disastrous results kasi nagkaroon ng twist sa hiling niya. Si Angelica Panganiban, childhood friend niya na naging manghuhula, ang tinakbuhan niya for help when he suddenly sees apparitions of dead people because of his wish.

The difference of ‘Bulong’ from other horror flicks is that there’s a comic twist into it. Tatakutin ka, but it’ll also make you laugh kasi ang both Vhong and Angelica are also established comedians.”
