Boy Abunda as TV host par excellence

BOY ABUNDA HAS conversed with a lot of people in his various shows, “Private Conversations”, “The Buzz” and “SNN”. But his best conversation is always reserved before he goes to bed at night and it’s with his Creator. “I ask Him what I’ve done to deserve all the good things and career breaks coming my way. The Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards for Television is elevating me to their Hall of Fame next year for winning 15 consecutive trophies as the Best Male Showbiz-Oriented Talk Show host. My first four awards—in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999—were for Startalk. The last eleven were for The Buzz. God has surprised me with so much, but I feel the best is yet to come.” In his most private moments, during which he reflects on where his career has taken him, the multi-awarded showbiz talk show host has meaningful conversations with God. “I tell Him, You know who I am. Hindi ako banal. Despite that, why do you love me so much?” In nearly 20 years as a TV talk show host, Boy has built a reputation as one of the toughest and the best interviewers in the business. He studies. He asks probing questions. He has his magic mirror. And as he’s learned from the many interviews he’s done, it pays to ask offbeat questions because the answers to them provide the spice of the interview. There’s no doubt he is now TV’s most seasoned interviewer and yes, the best is yet to come to this host who’s also a successful talent manager much loved by his wards and employees at Backroom, Inc. for being such a generous and kind boss.
