Vilma shows she has a good and generous heart

THE DAY AFTER Gov. Vilma Santos hosted lunch for a group of writer friends, she hosted a bigger one for other writers at Annabel’s. She invited 100 guests but more than 200 came. “Ang daming gatecrashers na writers daw pero puro noon ko lang nakita at narinig ang pangalan,” says Jun Nardo who was the host. “I wanted to send them away but ayaw ni Ate Vi. Lahat sila, sinali sa raffle at marami sa kanilang nanalo ng laptops and cash prizes.”

That made us realize all the more that Gov. Vi really has a good heart and a generous Christian. Imagine, some of her fans are against her helping Nora Aunor and one even wrote us not to ask her about it so as not to offend Vilmanians, but she herself is willing to help her former rival then wants to be quiet about it. No wonder she continues to experience good karma. As one writer says: “Hindi siya mapagtanim na gaya ng ibang tao.”

How true. Even when asked about the current Sharon-Aga conflict, she asked for peace. “Huwag na nating palakihin kasi magkaibigan ang dalawa. Just give them space at babalik din yan sa dati, just like Aga and I nang magkaroon kami ng tampuhan. Pabayaan na lang muna natin sila para hindi grumabe.”

But we’re sure her plea will fall on deaf ears as some writers want conflicts like this to flourish. “Siempre naman, para laging may isyung pinag-uusapan,” one columnist tells us.
