Review of Cinema One Digital Filmfest : Dagim

Dagim” – Directed and co-written by Joaquin Pedro Valdes, ewan naming kung paano ito napasali sa festival. Hindi ito para sa madidirihin, not only because of the excessive scenes of violence and mayhem but because of its very off-putting theme. Kuwento ito ng two brothers (Martin del Rosario and Samuel Quintana) na hinahanap ang kanilang nawawalang ama (Daniel Fernando). Sa paghahanap nila, they meet a mysterious girl (Rita Iringan) na sinamahan nilang umakyat sa bundok to be reunited with her brother (Marc Abaya), ang pinuno ng isang band of tattooed and scary looking men who turned out to be cannibals. Si Marc Abaya ay anak ni Director Marilou Abaya and won best supporting actor for his role here. He has this uncanny resemblance to the young Johnny Delgado at maging ang acting niya ay magpapagunita sa inyo of the late actor. Magaling din ang young actor na si Martin del Rosario in the role ng nalilitong young hero, pero ang talagang real revelation dito ay ang young singer na si Rita Iringan whose radiant beauty dazzles and whose magnetic screen presence will make you wonder why GMA (na siyang nakadiskubre sa kanya) is neglecting her and not giving her the break that she deserves.
