New Boy Group Xlr8 Has A Hit Song

VIVA’S POPULAR boy group, XLR8 (pronounced “accelerate” and not “exhilarate”), scores big with their new hit single “I Love You Gil”. This is the second song from their self-titled debut album and the follow up through the breakthrough tune “You’re So Hot”. You can see them today in “Party Pilipinas” where they sing and dance regularly. Their hit song is proof that XLR8 is truly one of the most successful new acts in the local music scene today and that it’s one of the very few boy froups in Philippine pop music history to hit it big. The group is composed of Hideaki Torio (Aki), born and raised in Japan with a Pinay mom and Japanese dad; John Carlo Lazerna, a video game buff who passions are dancing and pretty girls; R&B twins Meljohn (MJ) and Melmar (MM) Magno, who can both sing as well as play the keyboards, guitar and drums; Adrian Justin (AJ) Muhlach, the half-brother of Aga;  Francis Albert (Kiko) Ramos, grandson of Ben Delgado who’s the first Pinoy crooner to succeed in Las Vegas; Arkin del Rosario (Ark), an actor who has appeared on TV and the theatre; and Caleb Santos, a choir boy who learned to play the guitar and drums in the church choir.

 The XLR8 member who also writes songs is MJ Magno, who wrote the hit “I Love You Girl” and two other songs in the album, “Dance with Me” and “Ms. Beautiful”. Other potential hit cuts in their album are “Tonight’s the Night”, “I Wish Lang”, “She Was Mine”, “I’ll Be There”, “Anyway”, “Precious Love”, “For You” and “Money Money”. The boys are better looking than some of the foreign acts that visited Manila so it’s no wonder they quickly gained a lot of fans. Watch them join Sarah Geronimo’s RecordBreaker concert in Bataan on October 8. This afternoon, they’ll also perform in SM San Lazaro, and at SM Lucena on October 9 and Market Market on October 29.
