John Lapus is on a roll

LAST THURSDAY, we interviewed John Lapus at the presscon of "Here Comes the Bride" at ABS-CBN at lunchtime. For dinner, we saw him again at the twin presscons of "Showbiz Central" and "Startalk" at GMA-7. No doubt his career is really on a roll with non-stop assignments on TV and in films. He's also shooting "Madir", a new movie at Regal, and will do another one for Viva afte this. In "Here Comes the Bride", he plays the most challenging role of his career as he has to pretend that he's a real man, impersonating Jaime Fabregas at that.

"In the story about body switches, my body is inhabited by Tito Jaime so I have to act like na macho at uhaw sa babae," he says. "Feeling ko, binaboy ako ng direktor in this movie kasi pinag-love scene ako with Cai Cortez (daughter of Rez.) I now know the feeling of sexy stars who cry after being forced to do love scenes, gaya ni Jessa Zaragoza noon. Sa bed scene, for the first time, ginawa ko yung missionary position ba yun na nakapatong ako. Hindi ko alam kunsaan lalagay ang mga kamay ko kasi ang alam ko lang, lumuhod saka tumungo. Buti na lang, yung mga lalaki sa set, winorkshop ako kung anong dapat gawin ng isang tunay na lalaki sa kama kasi meron pa akong victory Joe. Talagang binaboy ako in this movie."

In the film, his soul is tranferred to Angelica Panganiban who then starts behaving like a flaming faggot. How's Angelica as John Lapus? "Ay, baklain talaga siya. Doon sa eksenang hinahala niya si Tom Rodriguez, dinaig pa niya ko."

How did Angelica feel doing that scene? "I thought it'd be easy pero mahirap pala kaya sineryoso ko ang panghahala kay Tom na mas takot na takot kays sa'kin kasi akala niya, huhubaran ko talaga siya."
