Party Pilipinas off to a good start

IF THE JAMPACKED studio where Party Pilipinas had its first telecast is an indication, then you can say that the show is off to a good start. Looks like everyone is curious to see the replacement of "SOP". The frontrunners remain the same: Regine, Ogie, Jaya and Janno, plus former regulars Jolina Magdangal, Kyla, Jay R and Gian Magdangal. But the twins Richard and Raymond Gutierrez are a welcome addition, including Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Heart Evangelista, Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos, Dennis Trillo, Geoff Eigenmann, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Claudine Barretto, TJ Trinidad, Jennylyn Mercado, Mark Herras, Sunshine Dizon, Lovi Poe, Mark Bautista, Aljur Abrenica, Kris Bernal, La Diva, the teen stars of "First Time", "Are You the Next Big Star" winners, the latest Starstruck recruits, and just about everybody who's anybody at GMA-7. They all did energetic dance numbers, choreographed by Fusion, who should be told he should just stay at the sidelights. Also present was the Korean boyband U Kiss and Elmo Magalona, son of the late FrancisM who did a well applauded rap number.

There are so many stars that it's obviously a game of numbers since ABS also has almost all its stars in "ASAP". It's not surprising that GMA is now requiring all its stars to participate in the new show. Here's hoping they're able to maintain the impressive party atmosphere of the pilot as they change venues each week. "Party Pilipinas" will next be staged at Araneta Coliseum then the Mall of Asia. TV 5 is also joining in with their "PO5 (Party of 5)" to be hosted by their own stable of stars led by Ryan Agoncillo, Lucy Torres, JC De Vera, and others. They should build up their stable fast so they can have as many stars as those of GMA and ABS in their own Sunday noontime shows.
