GEOFF EIGENMANN doesn't consider his role as Prince Javino in "The Last Prince" as a demotion after he and Carla Abellana starred in "Rosalinda". "It's very clear that we're here as special participation kasi we're not in the story from start to end," he says. "This is a big project and I'm glad to be part of it. Hindi mabubuo ang story kung wala kami ni Carla kaya heto, GMA held a solo presscon just for us."
As Prince Javino, he is used by the witch Alwana (Princess Punzalan) in her evil designs to rule the kingdom of Paladino. He goes to the mortal world through a magical mirror and cannot go back to Paladino anymore. He turns into a frog and only the kiss of a beautiful girl will restore him to being human. This girl is Sonia, played by Carla. So how's he and Carla?
"We remain to be the best of friends. Siempre, nabawasan yung pagkikita namin kasi before, we see each other almost everyday sa taping. But mababalik na yun kasi magte-tape na siya as Sonia starting next week."
His Kuya Ryan is marrying his girlfriend, Cathy Bordalba, on February 28 and his dad, Michael de Mesa, brother AJ, will be coming home from the U.S. "It'll be a reunion for our family as my grandparents, Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, are also coming home two weeks before the wedding."
With his dad coming home, won't his alleged affair with Krista Ranillo be revived? "It's an old issue. I've already said my piece, defending my mom. Nagulat nga ang dad ko bakit lumabas ulit. Pero hindi naman siya naapektuhan masyado. Ganun lang."
But when it happened then, was their family affected? "Of course, kasi ang nangyari, our dad left our house so malaki ang impact talaga. But that's the past. We've accepted it and moved on. I was about 16 years old when that happened. Nasa high school pa ko."
What if he'd be assigned to work with Krista? "Malabo sigurong mangyari kasi Kapuso ako, nasa kabila siya. But for me, work is work so kung kailangang magkasama kami, okay lang. No big deal. Pero gusto ba niyang makatrabaho ako. Kasi one time, she visited us sa set ng SRO directed by Dominic Zapata (Krista's boyfriend before she was linked to Manny Pacquiao) at hindi man lang niya ako binati."
