Jo Berry Never Expected That Her First TV Drama, 'Onanay', Will Hit It That Big

JO BERRY says 2018 will be an unforgettable year for her for the rest of her life. “From being a nobody, nakikilala na ako ngayon ng tao when they see me in public dahil sa exposure ko sa ‘Onanay’,” she says. “Dahil din sa trabahong ibinigay sa’kin ng GMA, nakakatulong na ako sa pamilya namin. Nitong nakaraang holidays, may sarili na kong financial contribution na naiambag sa mga gastusin ng aming pamilya. It’s one of my happiest Christmas seasons ever.”

She’s so thankful that the viewing public has embraced “Onanay” warmly. “Hindi ko talaga akalaing aabot kami ng ganito katagal sa ere. Six months na at extended na naman uli. I’m really happy kasi happy rin ako sa ginagawa ko. And I want thank lahat ng mga kasama ko sa show, from Direk Gina Alajar to our co-stars, si Ate Guy, si Ms. Cherie, sina Gardo, Wendell, Kate, Mikee and my first leading man sa start ng show, si Adrian Alandy. Alam nila, baguhan lang ako, tapos, differently abled pa ako, so they adjust to me at tinutulungan talaga nila ako.”

Recently, there’s a scene where she attacked Cherie Gil as Helena and it rated very high. Didn’t she have any qualms doing it? “When I first read the script, sabi ko, magagawa ko ba ito? Kasi sasaktan ko siya, sasabunutan ko, hindi ko yata kaya. But Ms. Cherie herself said okay lang daw. She felt my hands, sobrang lamig, kinakabahan ako, and she assured me it’s okay with her. It’s a great privilege to do that scene kasi Cherie Gil yun, e. And we’re glad it rated so high. Thankful din kami ni Wendell Ramos as Lucas kasi maraming sumusuporta sa aming tambalan. May nagpangalan na sa team namin ng LuNay. Nakakatuwa naman.”

And now, she is also doing her first movie with GMA Films. “Pero secret pa raw po, e. Hindi pa puede i-reveal ang details.”
