Jake is now managed by GMA Artist Center who presented him in a solo presscon just to officially announce this. “After his first stroke at maospital siya, sinabi na ni Tatay sa akin na sa GMA Artist Center na raw ako magpa-manage dahil siguradong hindi ako mapapabayaan, pero ayokong lumipat. Kasi nasanay na ako sa kanya as the one helping me. Ngayong nakalipat na ako sa GMA Artist Center, I think natutuwa naman si Tatay kasi yun ang gusto niyang mangyari.”
Isn’t he worried that GMA Artist Center is now already managing so many talents and he’s just one of them? “No, kasi kahit marami kami, hindi naman kami napapabayaan. Like ngayon, pagsasama-samahin kami ng other GMA actors-singers in one concert. The title is ‘Oh Boy!’ and this will be at the Music Museum on August 20, a Saturday. Makakasama ko rito sina Derrick Monasterio, Rocco Nacino and Aljur Abrenica. And now na nasa GMA na ako, I am also joining yung kanilang acting workshops for their regular talents para mas mahasa kami sa pagharap sa kamera.”
His last drama series was “Buena Familia” with Julie Anne San Jose. What’s next for him? “May bago raw akong soap pero hindi pa puedeng i-announce. It will air bago matapos ang taon. Pero I’m lucky to be part of a hit sitcom, ‘Pepito Manaloto’, kaya hindi ako nawawalan ng trabaho. Recently, I also played the lead role sa ‘Magpakailanman’ sa pagsasadula ng real life ni Carrot Man. Okay naman ang feedback. Maraming nakagusto. And this Saturday, kami ni Ken Chan ang maglalaban sa ‘Lip Synch Battle Philippines, so abangan nyo dahil we both give our best in the show.”
Has he found a new girlfriend since he and Bea Binene broke up? “No, wala pa. Hindi naman ako nagmamadali.”
We know it’s a bad break up as Bea won’t talk to him after their split. But how are they now? “We’re okay. Nagbabatian naman kapag nagkikita kami, hi-hello. Hindi kasing-warm like before, but I’d like to think na friends naman kami.”
At 25, he is planning to put up his own business in Subic, where his family lives. “Nag-try kami maglagay ng computer shop sana, kaya lang, pangit ang wifi signal doon sa lugar namin kasi maraming puno, so hindi natuloy. As of now, I’m looking for other prospects. Nakapagpatayo na ako ng sarili naming bahay roon, so gusto ko, business naman.”
