“The last one I did was in ‘Huling Birhen sa Lupa,’ for which I won three best actress awards,” she recalls. “After that, nalinya na ko sa supporting roles, mother roles, so I welcome the challenge of doing this meaty but sexy role. I’m only 36, kaya ko pa naman. Ang makaka-bed scene ko raw are Martin del Rosario, newcomers Bryan Foronda and Timothy Castillo. Tinatanong ako kung kaya ko raw ba sila? The question should be, kaya ba nila ako? Maganda yung treatment sa movie. Surreal daw. Parang panaginip at maraming pambihirang pangyayari ang makikita ng viewers.”
After this is “Siphayo (Dismay)”, a family drama written by Eric Ramos and directed by Joel Lamangan. This is an erotic story, sexually charged movie where the family will be ruined by a tyrannical father, along with his sons and a young and seductive stepmother. This is also about a farmland that a big corporation wants to obtain so they can build a shopping mall on it. Allan Paule is the father and Nathalie Hart is the stepmom, with Luis Alandy, Joem Bascon and Elora Espano as the children.
The last project is “Area (Magkera Ka, Magkanu?)” about an aging prostitute played by Ai Ai de las Alas, with her own son, Sancho de las Alas, as her pimp and Allen Dizon as the owner of the casa where she works.. “Area” is a notorious place in Field Avenue, Angeles, Pampanga where low class working men like tricycle drivers and construction workers can get cheap sex. Based on a true story, Ai Ai has met the real life character on which the movie is based.
“Nakita ko na siya,” she says. “Pokpok na laos. Masyonda na. Laosian deep na. Walang ganda. Medyo hawig kami. Kaya madaling gawin yon. Keri ko yan. Malay mo, itong magdala sa’kin sa international filmfest. Kapag na-meet ko doon si Brad Pitt, sasabihin ko sa kanya, ‘Hi, I’m Ai Ai, an international actress.’ Si Direk Louie Ignacio ang kumumbinsi sa aking gawin ito at may tiwala ako sa kanya na mapapalabas namin ito nang maganda.”
