LOVI POE'S ACTING LESSONS IN THE U.S. HAS MADE A MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE ACTRESS

LOVI POE had a solo presscon hosted by her manager, Leo Dominguez, to help promote her new movie, “Hindi Tayo Pwede”, that’s showing this Wednesday.

As a manager, Leo is really one of a kind as he goes the extra mile to help push the projects of his talents. Lovi celebrated her recent birthday in the USA with her British BF Montgromery Blencowe.

They were together for almost two weeks but she had to return to Manila for the promo of “Hindi Tayo Pwede”.

When its presscon was held at Botejyu Fisher Mall last week, she just returned that morning from the U.S. but it looks like she has no jetlag at all as she was bubbly and vibrant all throught the Q&A portion.

So how’s her vacation?

“It’s definitely worth it and I think I deserved it kasi the past few months, I got busy doing several movies and TV shows,” she says. “Naging very happy ang birthday ko on February 11 at pati Valentine’s Day na rin.

"At sa pag-uwi ko ngayon dito, magiging busy na rin ako taping for my new show sa GMA-7 with Benjamin Alves, a romcom entitled ‘Owe My Love’ with Ai Ai de las Alas, Nova Villa and Ruby Rodriguez, kaya it’s good na nakapag-rest din ako.”

So is her long distance relationship with Montgromery working for both of them?

“Okay naman kasi we have the technology to communicate everyday.  He knows naman na career pa rin ang priority ko. He’s an amazing, very understanding person and he’s also very busy naman with his own work so, we are just here to support each other. Basta when we’re together, we make sure we enjoy every moment and make the most of it. I feel blessed to have someone like him.”

Her last movies with Regal, “The Escort”, “Woke Up Like This” and “The Annulment”, are all box office winners, so Lovi is confident and optimistic that “Hindi Tayo Pwede” with Viva will also perform beautifully at the tills. It will have it’s premiere night at SM Megamall on Tuesday, March 3.

“This is an unusual movie kasi dalawa ang leading men ko and they’re both good actors, Marco Gumabao and Tony Labrusca.

"First time ko to do a movie with both of them and we quickly became comfortable with each other with the help of our director, Joel Lamangan, na gamay ko na kasi we’ve worked several times before in ‘Sagrada Familia’, ‘Lihis’, ‘Sigwa’, ‘The Bride and the Lover’ and ‘The Significant Other’.”

She loves being paired with her new leading men.

“They’re both very responsible and professional, real gentlemen even in the love scenes we did. I know people will talk about the love scenes, but I hope hindi lang yun ang mapansin nila sa movie because the story is really different and very involving.

"After all, the script is written by Sir Ricky Lee no less. Asset din ang title song naming ‘Hindi Tayo Pwede’ ng The Juans na bagay na bagay sa  movie.”

In the story, she plays Gab, who’s engaged to be married to Tony Labrusca. Marco is her trusted friend and officemate who’s secretly in love with her.

But something happens to Tony before their wedding day and, since she cannot let go of him, he returns to her as a ghost but she’s the only who can see him.

“The movie shows we cannot control everything and things happen in our life when we least expect it. I know I have to move on, but hindi ko magawa, so Tony returns as a ghost. Si Marco tries his best to console me and it becomes an extraordinary kind of love triangle kasi one of the parties involved is multo nga.”

Lovi’s acting has become more intense and she says the acting lessons she took while in the U.S. last year definitely helped her a lot to get in better touch with her emotions.

“I was there for five months and I had classes every other day, from 9 AM to 5 PM, with different acting coaches. I now use music to help motivate me in doing various scenes. I have my own playlist and it really helps to put you into the right mood.”

The lessons helped her did her dramatic scenes well in “Hindi Tayo Pwede” and the other movies she did, “Malaya” with Zanjoe Marudo, filmed in Italy, and “Latay” with Allen Dizon.

She’ll start taping “Owe My Love” this March and she will also soon start shooting a new movie for Regal, so she expects to put all she learned from her acting classes into a lot of good use.
