KIKO EN LALA presscon with Derrick Monasterio, Super Tekla, Director Adolf Alix, Kim Domingo, Tetay and Jo Berry

SUPER TEKLA confesses he’s getting more and more nervous now that his solo movie, “Kiko en Lala”, is nearing its playdate on September 25. “We’re all hoping it will click with lovers of comedy,” he adds. “I want to thank GMA for giving me this break kahit baguhan lang ako sa industry.

His real name is Romeo Librada and he stresses that, although he dresses up flamboyantly, he is not really gay. He started as an assistant of the late Chokoleit in comedy bars.

“I learned so much from him, lalo na about comic timing. Naging mentor ko siya. Because of what happened to him, I realized yung importance ng pahinga lalo na kung panay puyatan ang trabaho. Kasi good health ang puhunan naming mga artista.”
In “Kiko en Lala”, he plays dual roles as conjoined twins who were later separated. One is a man, Kiko, and the other one is gay, Lala. Doesn’t he get confused?

Dito sa ‘Kiko en Lala’, I enjoyed doing both straight and gay characters. But I admit na mas nahirapan ako in portraying Kiko, kasi si Lala, sanay na ako in doing her sa comedy bars. When I do Kiko, dapat baguhin ko pati modulation ng boses ko to distinguish him from Lala.”

Is it true he had a rift with the movie’s director, Adolf Alix Jr., after the movie’s playdate was moved from May to September?

Doing a special participation in the movie is Ai Ai de las Alas as Dedline, an entity who acts as an escort to human souls when they die and serves as a mediator between Kiko and Lala. Kiko’s leading lady is Kim Domingo as the beautiful Aning, who Kiko wants to marry.

Lala’s leading man is the hunky Derrick Monasterio, as Rap, a siyokoy in the carnival where Lala works. Also supporting them are Tetay as a ‘manghuhula’ called Wagas, Jo Berry as Tetay’s sister named Tadhana, Kiray Celis as Wagas’ sidekick called Dalisay, and Vangie Labalan as Mama San, the owner of the peryahan where the twins are a special attraction.

It’s common knowledge that Super Tekla first gained fame on TV as a host in “Wowowin” but he had a tiff with host Willie Revillame. Would he be willling to appear in Willie’s show to promote “Kiko en Lala”?
