AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, PEOPLE ARE NOW AWARE OF MIGO ADECER!!!

MIGO ADECER suddenly became the talk of the town after being arrested for a hit and run incident. He won in GMA-7’s Starstruck artista search four years ago but he never achieved the kind of popularity (or notoriety) that he is enjoying now. He’s all over on print, TV and social media, and the kind of mileage and exposure he’s now enjoying is something that will rival the works of any good PR firm that GMA can hire to help boost public awareness of him.

Of course, he has his shares of haters and bashers, which is just to be expected. But the same thing happened to Tony Labrusca a few months ago after his altercation with custom officials at the airport. Did it hurt his career? No, Tony is now doing several films like Regal’s “Ang Henerasyong Sumuko sa Love”, and he also stars in a new teleserye on free TV, “Mea Culpa”, and a digital series meant for live streaming, “Babae sa Septic Tank 3” where he plays Jose Rizal no less. Take note, both Tony and Migo are balikbayans. Tony is from the U.S. and Canada and he joined Pinoy Boyband search on ABS-CBN, while Migo is from Australia.

We’ve noticed that for some perverted reason, the public seems to be quite enamoured with stars with a bad boy image, which was capitalized on by Robin Padilla. After he spent years in jail for the illegal firearms case for which he was arrested, you’d think people wouldn’t support him anymore, but no, he came back with a vengeance, did one hit movie after another and is still very much around up to now.

Migo is only 19 years old, so he still has a long way to go. He’s good looking, he has the height other actors don’t have (he’s about 6 feet tall), he sings well and can surely be trained to act more convincingly, so we don’t think GMA would dump him just because he spent a night in jail. For all we know, this would even be a blessing in disguise and teach him a good lesson about not drinking when you’re driving, among other things.

At the presscon of his newest show, “Sahaya”, where he’s the third wheel in the Bianca Umali-Miguel Tanfelix love team, Migo says he’s satisfied with the way GMA is handling his career.

“I’m never without a show for a long time,” he adds. “After ‘Starstruck’, I was cast in ‘Encantadia’, then ‘My Love from the Star’, ‘TOTGA’, ‘Ika-5 Utos’ and now, ‘Sahaya’. So I feel I move up to one higher level in each show as my roles get more and more challenging for me.”

One thing which he said then now sounds very prophetic in hindsight:  “I want people to see my ugly side and also my good side. That is what I’m doing for my career and I guess, I get and keep my fans through my personality. What you see is what you get.”

So, he did get what he asked for, right? Where he goes from where he is now will all depend on him. Issuing a personal apology to the people he hurt while driving under the influence is a good initial move. And now, he better behave, or else....
