“Naiiba rin ang story nito and very challenging for me ang role ko kasi isa akong bathala rito, called Dalikmata,” says Joyce. “Magkakatawang-tao rin ako and fall in love with Kristoffer's character. Di niya alam na bathala ako and di ko naman alam na isa siyang Tamawo.”
Kristoffer said he prepared hard for his role. “Marami kasi akong action as the guardian of our queen kaya nag-work out ako nang husto sa gym and also did martial arts.”
He has matinee idol good looks, has won acting awards and has been given lead roles in the past, but popular stardom seems elusive to him. “There are times nadi-discourage ako at sabi ko nga, kundi mag-work as a leading man, puede naman akong kontrabida or do character roles. I told that sa GMA management. Ayokong umalis dito kasi I’ve learned to love acting so much. Kaya kahit support lang ako rito sa ‘Super Ma’am’, tinanggap ko dahil gusto ko ring mag-action.”
How does it feel that some other actors who have come later than him now seem to have left him behind? “Inaamin ko namang napag-iiwanan ako but I don’t want to compare myself them kasi ayokong mainggit. Hindi ko alam kung anong kulang pero basta happy akong may trabaho pa rin ako at alam ko naman kung anong makakaya kong ibigay. Iniisip ko na lang na darating din yung right time for me. When it’s not yet your time to shine, just be patient.”
As for Joyce, she also prepared for her role as a bathala or goddess. “When I was told na ganito ang role ko, one month before taping, nag-gym na ako and went on a strict diet,” she says. “No rice. Hindi na talaga ako kumakain ng kanin. Hindi rin ako nagpa-fastfood. I don’t eat anything fried or oily, at definitely, walang sweets. I lost 15 pounds at makikita nyo yun dito sa ‘Super Ma’am’ when I’m wearing my bathala costume.”
