Iza Calzado Enjoys Playing Antagonist Role As Grace In 'A Love To Last' That Ends Soon

IZA CALZADO says she got bashed for her role as Grace, the first wife of Ian Veneracion in “A Love to Last” who later comes back and messes up his new life with his second wife, Bea Alonzo.

“My character is not meant to be a contravida,” she says. “But I guess, in every story, kailangan ng antagonist to make it more interesting for the viewers. Ang maganda sa namba-bash sa’kin, they are actually very kind. Hindi naman sa’kin sila galit personally, kundi kay Grace. Wala namang sobrang evil sa show, e. And I really enjoyed playing my character. Grateful akong sa’kin napunta ang role ni Grace kahit naba-bash siya.”

Some folks say she’s trying to steal scenes from Bea and vice versa. “Yes, I know, nagsasapawan daw
kami when we have confrontation scenes, but it’s not true. We respect each other. I’m a collaborative actress at laging magaan ang samahan namin sa set.”

Ian Veneracion vouches for this. “I can attest na never silang nagkaroon ng competition or tension sa set. Kasi kaming lahat, very close talaga kapag may taping kami.”

Personally, what does Iza think is the secret for a love to really last in real life? “Six years pa lang kami ni Ben (Wintle, her boyfriend) and I’ve had other long term relationships. Sa experience ko, the most important thing is trust, that you have mutual trust in each other. Importante rin ang being understanding. Also, your expectations about your partner should not be too high. Kasi kung sobrang taas, mas madi-disappoint ka lang.”

As “A Love to Last” is about to end, the stars will have a thanksgiving concert at the Kia Theatre on September 8, Friday, 8 PM. Iza promises to give a surprise musical number. To get your tickets, log in at ticketnet.com.ph or call 911-5555.
